Driver charged after three die in Warwickshire road crash

The 18 year-old will appear in court next month

An 18 year old man, from Newbold on Stour, has been summonsed to appear at Coventry Magistrates Court, where he will face three counts of causing death by careless / inconsiderate driving and three counts of causing serious injury by careless / inconsiderate driving.

The charges relate to a road collision in Shipston on Stour on Friday 21 April 2023, which killed three people.

The 18 year-old was the driver of a Ford Fiesta, with three other teenagers travelling home from school together when they were involved in a collision with a Fiat 500 on the B4035 Campden Road at about 16.10 hours.

After the collision, 17 year-old Harry Purcell and 16 year-old Matilda Seccombe died in hospital on Friday 21 April and 16 year-old Frank Wormald died two days later on Sunday.

The occupants of the Fiat 500, a woman and two children, were taken to hospital with serious injuries and continue to receive ongoing treatment for their injuries.
