The wife of a man whose body was pulled from Draycote Water near Rugby last week has paid tribute to him.

Christopher Packer was 54 when he went missing on Thursday (May 29th) together with his teenage son during a fishing trip.

Both males had fallen into the water, with Christopher's son being rescued by two people who had spotted the pair in danger.

The teenage son did not suffer any injuries, but Christopher remained missing following the discovery.

Chris' body was eventually discovered and pulled from the water the following evening (May 30th).

Now, in a moving tribute to her husband, Chris' widow - who was not named by Warwickshire Police said she was not able to believe her partner was gone.

"Although I cannot believe you are not with us anymore, I know that you were doing what you loved the most - fishing and being with our beautiful son," she explained.

“You lived your life in such a good way and brought happiness, joy, and laughter to all you met; you will forever be missed by everyone.

“You departed this world far too early and left behind your family and friends who miss you more than words can say, you will live in our hearts forever and can now rest in peace.

“At the worst moment I have ever had to face, I would really like to thank everyone involved for their unbelievable support and tireless efforts to help us.

“Firstly, the amazing fishermen who were there that day and able to rescue my son, words cannot ever be enough and ‘thank you’ doesn’t even come close. Please know that your actions on that day saved a most precious young life."

She went on to pay tribute to the local emergency services for doing everything they could and providing support, helping to bring "comfort at the darkest of times".
