A man has been charged following a five-day siege at a property in Coventry last year.

It's after officers were called to the flat in Earlsdon Avenue North to conduct a welfare check in January 2022.

Owen Mullis, with an eight-year-old boy, refused to leave the property for several days.

He was detained and assessed by mental health professionals.

West Midlands Police has confirmed that the 42-year-old man is now charged with child cruelty, possession of a weapon, causing a public nuisance and breach of non-molestation order.

A trial date at Coventry Crown Court has yet to be fixed.
