Coventry shoplifter jailed as police ramp up convictions
Martin Baker will serve 18 weeks.
A prolific offender in shoplifting has been jailed.
Martin Baker received an 18-week sentence this week after admitting a business burglary in the city.
Baker, 36, was arrested in Coventry city centre after being identified smashing the window of a shop before entering and stealing the till.
He was arrested a short time later and charged with burglary as well as breaching a criminal behaviour order, being sentenced at Coventry Magistrates Court on 23 August.
He was handed an 18-week sentence for burglary with eight weeks for breaching his CBO, with the sentence for the latter running concurrently.
Baker, of no fixed address, is one of a number of prolific shoplifters West Midlands Police have secured convictions against in recent weeks.
