Roadworks to install huge changes at a Coventry roundabout will last until next spring.

Work on the Blue Ribbon Island at Foleshill Road and the A444 is due to start next Monday, 6 August.

It will only be completed by March 2025, officers confirmed after a meeting to agree the scheme yesterday, 31 July.

John Seddon, Strategic Lead for Transport and Innovation, urged drivers to take a different route if possible.

He said: “We are conscious it’s a critical junction, there will be roadworks and traffic management which will cause delays. We’re looking to minimise this."

“Urging people if they are able to take a different route in to avoid roadworks,” he added.

People will still be able to use the junction but there will be lane closures and temporary traffic lights, according to the council website.

The changes include building a new cycleway, installing seven new crossings for walkers and cyclists and moving traffic lights so they are closer to the roundabout. It’s part of planned transport improvements in Foleshill.

Another roundabout in Coventry, at the intersection of Humber Road and London Road, is also due to get upgrades. Coventry council said it will ask the public about ideas for the ASDA roundabout after the school summer holidays.
