35-year-old Devoisey was jailed at Warwick Crown Court for five years after he strangled, punched and attempted to drown the woman between April and June 2022.

In the first assault, Devoisey covered the victim's mouth and strangled her before punching her in the face, which left her with a black eye.

The second assault saw him punch her multiple times, causing significant bruising for which he later refused to allow her to seek medical attention.

During the course of the third assault, Devoisey grabbed the woman while she was in the bath, pushing her underwater and attempting to drown her.

She managed to get out of the bath and attempted to run away, but he dragged her back in and continued kicking her in the face and strangling her.

Devoisey had an indefinite restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim or attending his ex-partner's address following a previous conviction for battery against her in 2021.

However, during his custodial sentence and after his release he continued to control and intimidate the victim and moved back into their address breaching his restraining order.
