Coventry City of Culture: Godiva Festival returns
The city's biggest music event is back after two years.
Coventry's Godiva festival is back, with organisers telling us it'll be the biggest yet.
For the first time in two years - thousands of people will be heading to the War Memorial Park later and over the next 3 days.
In the middle of Coventry's year as UK City of Culture - it's set to be yet another huge event.
Organised by Coventry City Council with the support of partners, the festival prides itself on offering the best of Coventry and Warwickshire backed up by top national artists and performers.
In 2019, Godiva featured more than 70 artists, including big names such as Busted, Levellers, The Selecter and Feeder.
Headlining the Main Stage tonight (Friday) will be Supergrass. They will be joined by Northern Irish Rock Band Therapy? and local up and coming band Candid.
Craig David presents TS5 will be the headline act tomorrow (Saturday). TS5 is a prestigious party showcase hosted by Craig David that has toured all over the world. It’s not one to be missed.
Sophie Ellis-Bextor, known worldwide for her smash hit ‘Murder on the dancefloor’, will also be performing Saturday on the Main Stage.
Those attending are being reminded of the measures in place, which are in line with current government guidelines, to deliver a safe and enjoyable event.
The measures include encouraging people to take regular lateral flow tests (LFT), make use of the hand sanitisation points across the site and to respect fellow festival attendees with social distancing and by wearing a face covering when accessing the site, queuing for food and drinks and for the toilets.
Cllr Abdul Salam Khan, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Events said:
“We are all looking forward to another great event for the city as the Godiva Festival returns to the War Memorial Park. With this in mind, we wanted to remind people of the plans and measures put in place for everyone’s safety and to ensure an enjoyable festival for everyone attending.
“However, while we are excited to have Godiva returning, it’s really important that festival attendees feel as safe as possible at the event. When visiting the festival, we are asking all visitors to be mindful of not only themselves but also of others and to attend with that in mind.
“It’s sure to be a great event as we continue to mark our special year as UK City of Culture and if you haven’t got your tickets yet, get them now so you don’t miss out.”
