Coventry burglar jailed for burglary in Nuneaton
A man has been jailed for four years following a burglary in Nuneaton in March.
Ryan Stacey, 27, of Purcell Road, Coventry was arrested in March.
On the afternoon of 13 March, the occupant of a house in Chancery Lane received a message from his landlord to say the property had been broken into. He returned home to find Stacey had forced entry to the house and stolen a watch and cash.
CCTV showed two men running from the property before getting into a Ford Fiesta. It later transpired the car had been stolen from The Belfry on 9 March.
After being identified as a suspect, Stacey was arrested after police spotted him driving in Hope Close. When the officers got out of the car to arrest him, he tried to escape by driving across a garden before crashing into an unmarked police car. He continued to flee along Hope Close before colliding with another unmarked police car before being arrested.
The car being driven by Stacey was later found to have been stolen from Lutterworth over the night of 1-2 March.
Stacey was also found to be in possession of cannabis, amphetamines, and ecstasy. He was wearing a jacket stolen from the burglary in Chancery Lane.
In interview Stacey stated that he was one of the men seen on the CCTV taken from Chancery Lane. He also directed officers to the location of the stolen Ford Fiesta that was parked in Golden Eagle Close, near to where he was arrested.
Stacey was jailed after pleading guilty to handling stolen goods, burglary, dangerous driving, possession of MDMA, possession of amphetamine, possession of cannabis, going equipped for theft of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.
Stacey also asked for six vehicle offences committed in North Warwickshire to be taken into consideration.
