Closure orders have been served on a number of properties in Coventry.

Working alongside Citizen and Stonewater, West Midlands Police's Problem Solving Team helped secure closure orders against properties in Windmill Road and Hillmorton Road, in response to community concerns around anti-social behaviour and drug dealing.

The orders were issued by Coventry Magistrates Court, after the team worked with the two housing providers to build their case, with the orders being granted on 21 September.

Chief Inspector, Dave Amos, said: "We're continuing to work with our partners across the city to take action against this kind of offending.

"Wherever we receive intelligence, we will work through the courts to obtain closure orders and help keep our neighbourhoods safe for the people who live there."

Head of Neighbourhood Services at Citizen, Pauline McKenzie-Brown, said: “Citizen takes reports of crime and anti-social behaviour very seriously and will not tolerate illegal activity in any of our homes.

"We work in partnership with West Midlands Police and with considerable evidence and witness impact statements we will tackle the issues that impact upon our customers, to make them feel safe and secure living in their home and neighbourhood.

"This action shows our continued commitment to partnership working to get positive outcomes for the community."

Customer partner at Stonewater, Helen Palmer, said: "We have been working closely with the police and our customers at Whimbrel House to take action on the anti-social behaviour and drug dealing, and we’re pleased this has led to decisive action.

"We would continue to urge anyone to report anti-social behaviour to the police and we will always support our customers in ensuring they have a safe place to call home."
