The winner of MP for Coventry East, Mary Creagh’s Christmas card competition was announced today.
The prize giving ceremony was held at the winners’ and runners-up's schools; Grangehurst Primary School and Little Heath Primary School.
All the competition’s participants received a winning certificate, presented to them by Mary Creagh.
Georgie from Year 5 at Grangehurst Primary School was awarded first place.
Mary was impressed with her use of colour and the originality of her design, which featured snowmen next to a snow globe in a Christmas tree forest (see at top).
The runners-up were Saanvi and Yusuf from Little Heath Primary School, both in Year 5, and Ekamdeep in Year 6 at Grangehurst Primary School.
Ms Creagh says she particularly enjoyed the minions which appeared on Saanvi’s entry (see below)!
The Christmas cards, featuring all four winning designs, will be sent to over 1,000 recipients across the country.
Prizes of pantomime tickets were donated to the winner and runners-up by The Belgrade Theatre, and the Coventry East MP will be joining the children on their trip to see The Belgrade’s production of Dick Whittington.
Mary said, “It was so hard to choose a winner from so many creative entries, and I’d like to thank every pupil who participated.
"I’m delighted to have the entries from Georgie, Saanvi, Ekamdeep and Yusuf on my Christmas card this year, and am looking forward to seeing Dick Whittington with them.
"I would also like to thank the sponsors of my card, NP Aerospace, and The Belgrade Theatre for their kind donations.
"I’d like to take this occasion to wish all pupils and teachers in Coventry a very Merry Christmas.”
