CCTV appeal after Leamington assault

It happened on Old Warwick Road on Sunday morning

Officers have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to, after a woman was assaulted in Leamington at the weekend.

At around 7.45am on Sunday (16 July), a woman was cycling on the canal towpath on Old Warwick Road, when she was approached by a male cyclist who has repeatedly punched her to the head.

The suspect then left on his bike in the direction of Myton Road.

He is described as a white man, aged between 25-30, around 5’8” and of large build, wearing a red shirt and no cycling helmet.

Detective Constable Mike Woodland from Leamington CID said: “This is a concerning incident which has left the victim understandably shaken, and she is currently being supported by specialist officers. A number of enquiries are now underway to identify and locate the suspect.

"We believe the man in the image may have information that could help with our enquiries.

“If anyone witnessed the incident, any suspicious behaviour in the area or recognises the description of the cyclist, please get in contact.”
