Officers are keen to trace two people who helped a man as thieves attempted to take his moped in Nuneaton.

It happened around 6pm on Friday (4 November), when the man in his 30s was riding between Nuneaton and Hinckley.

As he approached the traffic lights where The Long Shoot meets the A5, he was reportedly boxed in by a five unknown people who were travelling on two mopeds.

The group threatened him and tried to take the moped before two men got out of a passing car and intervened. We’re keen to identify and speak to these people as witnesses.

It is also understood that a bus – believed to be the Ariva 158 Saphire – was going past at the time of the incident.

The victim was left shaken but uninjured following the incident.

The group are described as all male and around 16 to 18 years old. One is thought to have been wearing full biking gear while the others were wearing face masks.

Enquiries are currently ongoing and we’re particularly appealing for the two individuals who came to the man’s aid to come forward.

We’d also like to hear from anyone who was on the bus, who witnessed the incident or has any dashcam footage of the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the force or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident number 335 of 4 November.
