10 men charged in connection with the investigation into Fidel Glasgow's death in Coventry

Fidel was stabbed during the disorder near to Club M on Croft Road

Police have charged ten men with offences connected to violent disorder which broke out in Coventry city centre in September 2018 resulting in the death of Fidel Glasgow.

Fidel was stabbed during the disorder near to Club M on Croft Road in the early hours of 1 September 2018 and died in hospital just hours later.

A 23-year-old man was also stabbed in the disorder and taken to hospital with serious injuries, from which he later recovered.

In spite of an intensive investigation, several arrests and appeals for information, no-one has been brought to justice for Fidel’s murder, however there has been no let-up in our search for his killer.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has now authorised charges against ten men for wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to the 23-year-old, violent disorder and possession of offensive weapons.

Detective Inspector Michelle Allen, from the force’s homicide unit, said:

“We are still actively investigating Fidel’s murder and these charges are a significant step forward in our search for his killer.

“Fidel’s family have been fully updated with these latest developments and we remain in close contact with them.

“We continue to ask anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward."

Fidel’s mother, Melanie Staple said:

“Fidel is missed dearly by his family and close friends. All our lives will never be the same.

“I miss his voice round my house and his infectious personality, for what?

“Whoever stabbed my son - it may have been an accident, but covering it up is intentional.”
