Young woman dies after serious crash on back road in north Cornwall

Police have confirmed a young driver from the Wadebridge area has died following a serious crash in north Cornwall.

The 21-year-old woman's car and another collided on back road near Washaway, Bodmin.

The casualty was pronounced dead at the scene on Sunday evening and her family has been told.

It happened at around 7.30pm, closing the B3266 for around 11 hours.

Officers from the Roads Policing Team attended the scene to investigate and establish what happened.

They are appealing for anyone who saw the incident or who has dashcam footage to come forward.

Devon & Cornwall Police said: "Police were contacted at around 7:30pm on Sunday 6th March following reports of a collision involving a Black Range Rover and a Red Seat on the B3266 near Washaway, Bodmin.

"As a result of the collision, the 21-year-old female driver of the Seat from the Wadebridge area was pronounced deceased at the scene; her next of kin have been informed.

"The Range Rover driver was unharmed.

"Officers from the Roads Policing Team attended the collision to investigate and establish how the collision occurred; the road was closed for around 11 hours top allow this work to take place.

"Police are appealing for witnesses and would like to hear from anyone who has dashcam footage that could assist.
