A young boy has reportedly been followed home by two men in a white van in Wadebridge.

Police received the report on Tuesday evening last week (21st June) and the youngster ran to a nearby house.

Officers are urging parents to be vigilant and to speak to their children about how to safeguard themselves.

We're told this type of incident is rare but all local schools in the area have been notified about what happened.

In a statement on Facebook, officers said: "Wadebridge Police have received a report that a young boy was followed home by two males in a white van, on Tuesday evening. The boy had the good sense to run to a nearby house.

"One of the males shouted out to the boy, while they were following him.

"While this type of incident is rare, police are asking parents to speak with their children and asking them to safeguard themselves as best they can. Examples of this are not walking home from school or going out alone, having their mobile phone to hand, if they have one and if they do see anyone acting suspicious, to report it straight away.

"All of the schools in the Wadebridge area have been notified and have been asked to send out a message to their students or parents to be extra vigilant."
