Police have confirmed a woman has been taken to hospital as a precaution after an incident on the A30 in west Cornwall.

Officers and negotiators were called to an area near Camborne on Wednesday morning, amid concerns for a person's welfare.

They say a woman was on the wrong side of the railings in the Treswithian area, but is now being supported by medical professionals.

The westbound carriageway was closed while emergency services worked at the scene, but has since reopened.

Shortly before 8am, a Devon & Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "A female was on the wrong side of the railings and the road was closed whilst negotiators and medical professionals attempted to engage with her.

"At around 7:10am the female was removed from the bridge and to a safe area and the road was reopened.

"The female remains with officers at the scene and is due to be transported to hospital as a precaution, in due course".
