A woman from Cornwall has recorded a tribute song with others across the country after losing her dad to coronavirus.

Julia Abbitt from Par lost her dad to Covid-19 back in April last year, when he'd been in hospital with heart failure.

She told us is was an incredibly tough time for her and her family, and was scary.

"I managed to see him in his final hours, I made a mad dash from Cornwall to the hospital in Kent. I was able to see him, it was such a quick downturn, an awful deterioration.

"In the early hours he passed, and with the lockdown and the restrictions I couldn't go in to speak to my mum."

Afterwards she joined a Facebook group for those across the UK who have lost loved ones to Covid, called the Alone Together Group.

They decided to form the Alone Together Choir, and collaborated in Zoom meetings every Friday evening to create the song 'Thank You'.

All the video and audio was recorded on their mobile phones, to create the track which is a tribute to all those who have lost their lives to coronavirus.

You can listen to the song and watch the video below...

"I feel that it's a tribute and we've memorialised him, and I think all of us in the choir feel the same.

"It is so, so important to have that wider community of people who've gone through the same. Thank goodness for Zoom in these times, as we've all needed that support together."

The song is aiming to raise enough money to pay for a national memorial for victims of the virus across the country.

Julia says the plan is it will be installed somewhere in London.

"Sometimes it feels as though people don't take the virus seriously if they haven't been personally affected, but it is deadly to many.

"So please keep washing your hands, wearing your mask and socially distancing because it hasn't gone away."
