"Emergency services, including the RNLI and Coastguard rescue teams along with the Air Ambulance were all present at the scene.

RNLI offers "deepest condolences" after tragedy

An RNLI spokesperson said: "Perranporth RNLI lifeguards responded to an incident on Thursday 25th August at 5pm involving a member of the public who had got into significant difficulty in the water.

"They were located approximately 500m around the corner at a neighbouring cove (Droskyn Point) outside of the area patrolled by RNLI lifeguards.

"RNLI lifeguards immediately launched the in-shore rescue boat (IRB) and began their search in challenging sea conditions.

"Moments later they found an unconscious woman in the water and returned her to the main beach where RNLI lifeguards and multiple emergency services were assembled and involved in administering emergency casualty care.

"The RNLI would like to offer our deepest condolences to her family and friends".
