Elderly woman found dead after Redruth house fire

An 83-year-old woman has died following a house fire in Redruth.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service were called to an address in North Street at around 9.35pm on Friday 26th March, who then alerted Devon and Cornwall Police.

Fire crews were met with a property filled with black smoke upon arrival.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the next of kin have been informed.

Police say the fire is not currently being treated as suspicious but continue to investigate the circumstances and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact officers.

"At around 9.35pm om Friday 26 March, police were alerted by Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service to a fire at an address in North Street, Redruth.

"The fire service was met with a property filled with black smoke upon its arrival.

"An 83-year-old woman was pronounced deceased at the scene and the next of kin have been informed.

"The fire is not currently being treated as suspicious. Police continue to investigate the circumstances and a file will be prepared for the coroner

"At 2122hrs on Friday 26th March 2021, Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service Critical Control Centre at Tolvaddon received a call to a fire at an address in North Street, Redruth.

"Two appliances from Tolvaddon and one from Falmouth were sent.

"Sadly, an 83-year-old female was pronounced deceased at the scene. Next of kin have been informed. A Police and Fire investigation continues."
