Woman arrested following roof-top incident in the centre of Bodmin

Police were called to reports of a person on a building making threats to harm

Police who spent the evening dealing with a roof-top incident in the centre of Bodmin have confirmed a woman has been arrested.

Officers were called to concern's for a person's welfare on Sunday night, reporting someone on top of a building and making threats to harm.

Road closures were in place near Fore Street, Berrycoombe Road and Dennison Road, as the emergency services, including Western Power, dealt with the incident.

Devon & Cornwall Police say a woman fled the roof area, before barricaded herself inside a nearby property.

They have since confirmed a local woman was arrested on suspicion of breaching the peace and causing criminal damage; she remains in custody.

In a statement, the force said: "Police were alerted at around 5:15pm on Sunday 12th June following concerns for the welfare of a female who was on the top of a building and making threats to harm in Bodmin.

Road closures were in place near Fore Street, Berrycoombe Road and Dennison Road as emergency services, along with Western Power, attended.

"Just before 9pm, a female fled the roof area and barricaded herself in a nearby property.

"At around 11pm this situation was resolved peacefully".

They added: "We thank the public for their patience shown whilst this incident took place".

A 39-year-old woman from Bodmin has been arrested on suspicion of breach of the peace and causing criminal damage and remains in custody.
