Woman airlifted to hospital following serious crash in Looe

A woman has been airlifted to hospital following a crash in Looe.

Two cars were involved in the collision on Station Road on Friday morning and a third vehicle was also damaged.

One casualty was trapped inside a car and had to be cut free by firefighters. She has been taken to Derriford by air ambulance.

The road was closed in both directions but has now reopened.

At the time, a spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police, fire and ambulance were called just after 9am today 1 Oct following a two car collision on Station Road, Looe.

"A third vehicle was also damaged as a result of the collision.

"One woman was trapped in her car and extracted by the fire service. She has sustained injuries and has been airlifted to Derriford by air ambulance.

"Two other people have sustained injuries, not believed serious.

"The road is blocked and closed at Sandplace and Looe Bridge. It is likely to remain closed for some time."

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service added: "One appliance from Liskeard attended a call to a two vehicle road traffic collision in Looe.

"One female was trapped in a vehicle and firefighters helped release the casualty who was left in the care of ambulance crews.

"Two cars were made safe before the fire service left the scene."
