West Cornwall Inns to close four sites this weekend
Customers have shared their "shock" of the closures online
The owners of 4 Cornish pubs say it would be "irresponsible" to keep their sites open this winter.
West Cornwall Inns have announced the closure of their sites from this coming Sunday (22d October) and are blaming rising costs.
In a statement, they say their sites, the Queen's Arms at Breage, Henlys in Helston, the Fire Engine at Marazion and The Coldstreamer at Gulval will continue trading until the weekend, whilst they try wind down their stock.
They say "Due to the current economic climate, together with the spiralling costs of electricity, food and drink throughout this summer, we are not in a position to trade into winter and it would be irresponsible to attempt it."
Over the summer months, they say they made a £2 million turnover, but say that's "till not enough to make any profit, or increasingly even cover costs".
Patrons of the pubs have been sharing their upset online, with one person on Facebook saying "Very sad to hear this. It will be a real loss to the community"
