Wally the Walrus has reportedly been spotted in Irish waters after leaving the Isles of Scilly.

The curious creature spent weeks around St Mary's, after previously being seen in north Cornwall.

For his own safety and to stop the damage caused to local boats, he was even given his own pontoon!

Locals tweeted to say Wally had left the islands on Monday...

Since then, Seal Rescue Ireland has posted to say he had been spotted in their waters!

Speaking to BBC Radio Cornwall, Dan Jarvis from British Divers Marine Life Rescue said Wally had been sighted in Co. Waterford.

He added that he hoped this meant the walrus was finally heading back to his Arctic home.
