Families across Cornwall are coming together virtually to remember their lost babies in a special service.

The Annual Baby Remembrance Service for the Royal Cornwall Hospital will take a different format this year.

Due to the Covid-19 crisis, staff at the hospital are preparing a comforting and uplifting service which will be available online at 2pm on Sunday 11th October 2020.

The specialist team at Treliske are hoping that this year even more families can benefit from the online service, which can be watched at home.

"We are delighted to be able to provide the same level of support to families this year in a digital way.

"We suggest lighting a candle at home during the act of remembrance, and although we cannot be together face to face, we are still absolutely united in our support for each other."

The event is part of national Baby Loss Awareness Week which takes place from 9th to 15th October, and will include poems, music and other items which will resonate with all who are watching.

The service will be by two of the Chaplains, Sarah and Angela. The programme includes lighting of the candle, a greeting from Kate Shields, Chief Executive, poems by staff and parents, music, including the beautiful ‘Cradling song’ by one of our community midwives, an act of remembrance, all with you and your loss in mind.

The service will take place on Sunday 11th October 2020 at 2pm and will be available on YouTube after it has gone live, so others can receive the link wherever they are.
