Missing 89-year-old man from Falmouth found after urgent multi-agency search

The family of a missing pensioner from Falmouth have confirmed he has been found, after a multi-agency search operation.

89-year-old Christopher Brookes went for his daily walk on Thursday evening, but failed to come home.

Police searched through the night, alongside their helicopter, Coastguard rescue teams and the RNLI.

Officers were urging anyone who saw Christopher to call 999 but posting on social media, his relatives say he was found on Friday morning.

Devon and Cornwall Police added: "We can confirm that Christopher Brookes has been located and would like to thank the public for their help".

West Cornwall Search and Rescue Team were also involved in the search for Christopher.

They had been asking locals to check their gardens and outbuildings, after the family said it was out of character for him to go missing.

"We were contacted by Devon & Cornwall Police at 23.28 to join a high-profile search for a missing 89yr old male in the Falmouth area.

"20 team members have been searching throughout the night alongside Falmouth Lifeboat, Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team, Porthoustock Coastguard Rescue Team and the Police NPAS.

"A vast amount of areas have been covered including urban and parkland locations.

"Unfortunately the male is still missing as of 07.30am (Friday 19th February)

"If you are in the Falmouth area please check your gardens and outbuildings, and contact the Police if you have any relevant information".
