Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident in Redruth.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Drump Road at around 6.30pm last night following a report of a serious assault (Thursday 6th July).

Two men have been taken to hospital. One man has sustained a suspected gunshot wound to the back which is currently being treated as life-threatening. A second man was reported to have been assaulted with an axe and sustained a serious head injury.

In an update today (Friday 7 July), a police spokesperson said: "A man in his 40s from Redruth and a man in his 30s from Camborne have both been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

"Both remain in police custody and await questioning.

"Police continue to appeal for information which may assist our enquiries, including dash-cam and CCTV footage in the area."
