Two cyclists caught in crash with tractor near Penzance

One has been airlifted to Derriford Hospital

Two cyclists have been caught in a crash with a tractor near Penzance.

The collision happened in the New Mill area, near Trythall Community Primary School, just before midday on Wednesday.

One casualty was airlifted to Derriford with serious injuries. The other was also taken to hospital but the extent of their injuries is not yet known.

"Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision, near Trythall Community Primary School, New Mill, Penzance, at around 11.50am, today 19 May.

"The collision involved two cyclists and a tractor.

"Two casualties were treated at the scene and one of them was taken to Derriford Hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries.

"The second casualty was also being taken to hospital for treatment, but the extent of their injuries is not currently known.

"The incident is ongoing."

Devon and Cornwall Police

Inrix Traffic and Travel reported that the road was closed but has since confirmed that it has now reopened.
