Truro Canon suspended over safeguarding complaint
Cathedral leaders describe the complainant as "vulnerable".

Truro Cathedral has confirmed that the Reverand Canon Alan Bashforth has been suspended, following a safeguarding complaint.
Leaders say the suspension is pending an independent safeguarding assessment.
They say it is to facilitate the investigation and to safeguard the complainant, who they describe as "vulnerable".
According to a statement on Truro Cathedral's website, the period of suspension is "up to three months" and "the work of the cathedral goes on".
The statement said: "Following a safeguarding complaint, relating to a vulnerable adult, the Reverend Canon Alan Bashforth has been suspended pending an independent safeguarding assessment.
"Arrangements have been made with the Diocesan Safeguarding Team to support the cathedral’s safeguarding work during this period.
"The work of the cathedral goes on. Daily worship continues in the usual pattern. We continue to offer a place of sacred space and common ground, welcoming all to a place where people of all faiths and none might find themselves at peace.
"This announcement relates solely to Truro Cathedral. It is not connected in any way with announcements made by the Church of England concerning the Makin Report."
