A South West domestic abuse charity has launched a new campaign - with a warning that cases go up during the Euros.
Trevi is working with Plymouth Argyle, Her Game Too, the Devon FA and Manculture, with the aim of showing violence against women and girls the red card.
It says when the England national team win or draw, reports of domestic violence rise by 26%, and a loss can see this figure spike to 38%.
Regardless of the match outcome, reports of domestic violence remain 11% higher than average in the day following a match.*
Hannah Shead, Trevi CEO says, “As a charity supporting women, many of whom are survivors of Domestic Abuse and sexual violence, we will continue to shine a light on theses issues.
"The Euros is a time for great excitement for many people however the grim reality is many women will suffer an increase in violence and abuse at home.”
