A charity run by the local community who provide a food larder, communal events, a warm space, and more, is to shut from this Friday (7th February) amidst rising financial pressures, as they 'no longer have the resources to continue activities in the current manner.'

The Treverbyn Community Hall is used by thousands of people each year- previously supporting around 20,000 people from nearby communities.

They're located in the centre of Cornwall, with the Hall just 10 minutes from the A30 and A390, between Stenalees and Penwithick.

On their website, they say their vision is to "foster a sense of community across Treverbyn and beyond, igniting community spirit and welcoming all with open arms."

"The pulsating hub of our charity is Treverbyn Community Hall known as the 'Hall for All'."

"We seek to transform people's lives through offering impactful projects, events and activities tailored to the diverse needs of our community and within everyone's reach."

'No longer have the resources'

The charity released the following statement on their Facebook account: "It is with a heavy heart that Treverbyn Community Trust has had to make the difficult decision to suspend its staff and volunteer supported activities from Friday 7th February."

"This decision has not been made lightly, but given the changing landscape and the financial challenges facing the charitable sector as a whole, regrettably we no longer have the resources to continue activities in the current manner.

"Treverbyn Community Hall will remain open for independent activities and hire, and further updates will be provided in due course.

"The Trust is deeply grateful for all the commitment shown by our staff and volunteers for helping to make a profound difference to so many of our residents, especially during the Covid pandemic."
