A30 blocked and four-mile queues near Carland Cross following three-vehicle crash

A busy stretched of the A30 through Cornwall was left blocked following a three-vehicle crash.

A caravan and two cars are believed to have been involved in a collision near Carland Cross.

Inrix Traffic and Travel was reporting that there were long delays in the area with queuing traffic for around four miles.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were all called to the scene on Monday.

One person is said to have suffered back and chest injuries but it is not yet known if these were serious.

Traffic was described as gridlocked from Carland all the way down to Chiverton Cross, with a travel time of 60 minutes, and drivers were being urged to avoid the area.

It has now been confirmed that the road has cleared.

At the time, police said: "Police, fire and ambulance were called at 11.50am today 21 June following a multi-vehicle collision on the A30 westbound at St Allen, Truro.

"Believed to involve three vehicles, one towing a caravan.

"The road is blocked in both directions. Traffic described as gridlocked from Carland Cross and tailbacks to Chiverton Cross roundabout.

"We would ask motorists to avoid the area for the time being if possible.

"Ambulance en route – one person complaining of back/chest injuries but severity unknown at this time."

And Inrix Traffic and Travel said: "A30 in both directions blocked severe delays, queueing traffic for over 4 mile due to accident, two vehicles and a caravan involved between A39 (Carland Cross, Carland Cross) and B3285 (Boxheater Junction, Zelah).

"Traffic is currently unable to pass the scene, affecting traffic between Redruth and Fraddon."
