The clean-up operation has begun in parts of Cornwall after a deluge of heavy rain over the past few days saw places like Truro hit with flash flooding.

The water has started to recede as fast as it arrived, but yesterday, cars found themselves stuck in the floodwater, and a number of local businesses told us of how they've been impacted with inches of floodwater in their properties.

One of those, the Bridge Street Barber Shop, say they've been having to deal with levels which, in places, were 'knee deep'.

They said: "The rain came down and then flooded us for the second day in a row.

"Today's flooding was really bad from the front door through to the staff room.

"There were four inches roughly inside - and as for outside, it was knee deep in places, which was made worse by cars driving through it.

"These pictures don’t actually show how bad this was."

The heavy rain yesterday evening caused major delays, and at one stage, the A39 Morlaix Avenue was describe as 'impassable'.

There's also been praise for members of the public who've been helping clear up some of the worst of the water.

Eyewitness Esme Page has tweeted thanks to 'Carl and his mate from Bridge Street Barbers' who cleared drains of leaves which had washed down the hill - saying it went from 'knee deep to passable in just under an hour!'
