Police arrest 17-year-old boy after reports of sexual assault in Bodmin

A teenager has been arrested as police investigate reports of a sexual assault in Bodmin.

The incident is reported to have happened near Treningle View on Friday evening and a young woman is being supported by specialist officers.

A scene guard was in place on Friday night and Saturday while officers carried out enquiries.

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault and has been released on bail until the New Year.

Devon and Cornwall Police are asking anyone with information that could assist with their investigation to come forward.

In a statement, the force said: "Police are investigating reports of a sexual assault in Bodmin which is reported to have taken place at around 6.30pm on Friday 17th December near Treningle View.

"The victim, a young woman, is being supported by specialist officers.

"A 17-year-old boy from Bodmin has been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault by penetration. He has been released on police bail until 14th January.

"A scene guard was put in place whilst enquiries were carried out by officers over Friday night and Saturday.

"Anyone with information which may assist the investigation is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CR/109850/21".
