Teenager charged in connection to serious assault in Newquay

A man was taken to hospital with suspected stab wounds - his injuries aren't thought to be life-threatening

Police have charged a teenager in connection to a serious assault which happened in Newquay.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Edgcumbe Avenue just before 3.15pm on Tuesday (2 May).

The victim, who is in his 20s, was taken to Derriford Hospital by Air Ambulance with suspected stab wounds. He is currently in a stable condition and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Liam Phillips, aged 18 and from Newquay, has been charged with one count of Section 18 causing grievous bodily harm with intent and two counts of assault on an emergency worker.

He is being held in remand and is due to appear at Truro Magistrates’ Court this morning (Thursday 4 May).
