Patients are being warned that both of Cornwall's mass Covid vaccination centres could be hit by a potential nationwide shortage of supplies.

Bosses at the Stithians and Royal Cornwall Showground sites say operating days and times will flex up and down over the next few weeks.

Some appointments might have to be rescheduled too, amid expected delays in importing the vaccine into the UK.

Chief Pharmacist at Royal Cornwall Hospitals' Trust, Iain Davidson, is the clinical lead for the hospital hub and vaccination centres.

He is encouraging anyone aged 50 or over, or who is eligible to have the jab, to book their appointments, with slots currently available until the end of March.

Iain Davidson, clinical lead for the hospital hub and vaccination centres and chief pharmacist at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, said:

"There's still time to book your COVID vaccination appointments this week, with lots of slots currently available until the end of March.

"If you are 50 or over, have a health condition that puts you at greater risk or a health or social care worker and have not had your first dose, we encourage you to book today online here or by phoning 119.

"Over the next few weeks operating days and times at our vaccination sites will flex up and down in line with vaccine supply and bookings, following the JCVI guidance on priority cohorts and when to administer second doses. A small number of appointments may also be rescheduled to alternative days.

"If you already have an appointment over the coming weeks, whether for your first or second dose, this remains in place and it's really important that you attend it as planned.

"If we need to make any changes to appointments, we will contact you directly".
