Highways to carry out patrols on Cornwall's A30 and the M5 this summer

The MP for North Cornwall has confirmed special patrols will be carried out on the A30 and M5 this summer.
Scott Mann has given an update on his safety campaign, launched after two fatal crashes in the Duchy.
His letter to the Transport Secretary in April raised a series of concerns, including issues like short slip lanes and sharp junctions.
Mr Mann has also arranged to take National Highways officers on a visit to 'dangerous' areas of the Duchy's main road to see the dangers first-hand.
He confirmed a safety study is being carried out at junctions in the Launceston area and has said that is due to be finished this Autumn.
Scott Mann said: "Baroness Vere of Norbiton, the Government Minister responsible for road safety, has responded directly to me and confirmed that National Highways is committed to making sure that the safety performance of the A30 can be improved where possible.
"There will also be patrols in place between the M5 junction at Exeter and Bodmin from July until September this year to ensure support can be offered to drivers.
"I have also arranged to meet with National Highways and personally take their officers on a visit to dangerous areas of the A30 in North and mid-Cornwall so they can see first-hand some of the conditions and problems we face.
He continued: "Iâm also aware that there continues to be a high level of interest amongst the local community on the section west of Launceston, focused at A30/B3257 at Plusha Junction.
"I'm told that there have been unprecedented traffic flows recorded on the A30 following recovery from the pandemic with increased traffic associated with staycations.
"Currently, a Highway Safety Study is underway between A30 Kennards House Junction West of Launceston and Five Lanes/Trewint. This is due to conclude in the Autumn".
