Cornwall could see downpours, gales and flooding as Storm Christoph batters the country.

A yellow weather warning for rain is in force across the Duchy from the early hours of Wednesday morning through until 6am on Thursday.

The Met Office is warning that there could be 75 to 100mm of rainfall over the moors in the South West.

The is currently one flood alert in force for Cornwall too, for the Upper River Tamar.

The Environment Agency says river levels are expected to rise due to the heavy rain, which could cause issues on low lying land.

Drivers are urged to take care as there could be spray on the roads, travel disruption and power problems.

"Catchments are wet following Tuesday’s rain and further heavy rain is forecast on Wednesday. Rivers are set to respond quickly and expected levels suggest that there will be flooding impacts to low lying land and roads close to the river.

"Levels are set to peak on Wednesday morning although further rainfall is expected throughout the day so rivers will remain high.

"Take care near the areas of concern and monitor your local weather conditions. We are monitoring river levels and are ready to respond as required."
