Great Western Railway will operate a rail replacement service along the branch line between St Erth and St Ives during the G7 Summit in Cornwall.

The replacement buses will be in operation from Monday 7th June until Monday 14th June inclusive, with train services resuming on Tuesday 15th.

This is to allow Devon and Cornwall Police and the security services to set up secure zones around locations involved in the summit.

GWR says full details of the replacement service will be available shortly and customers are being urged to check the website for future updates.

The cancellation of branch line trains was confirmed during a G7 Facebook Live event, hosted by Devon and Cornwall Police.

The force has launched a special website about how the three-day summit will be policed.

It includes details on everything from possible protests to road closures, details of which are expected to be confirmed by mid-May.

Hundreds of extra officers will be drafted in, for what is being billed as the biggest security operation in Devon and Cornwall Police's history.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Cornwall hosting the 2021 G7 Summit will bring an inevitable level of disruption both regionally and locally.

"Devon & Cornwall Police are working with Government to minimise the impact on residents, businesses and visitors, as well as access restrictions to local services - particularly around the host venues in Carbis Bay, St Ives and Falmouth".

The force added: "Security planning is ongoing and specific detail such as the location of cordons/road closures will be shared with residents and businesses in due course. Residents in the area of Tregenna Castle and Carbis Bay can expect disruption during the course of the event weekend.

"We are keen to keep roads as open as possible and where routes are required to be closed, a traffic management plan that includes diversionary routes will be put in place".
