Specialist divers are to inspect the Liskeard to Looe line which has been closed due to flooding.

Buses having been running instead of trains since December 20th after heavy rainfall combined with high tides caused flooding on the line.

Great Western railway are working with Network Rail to reopen the line.

National Rail says the water levels have now dropped and bridges along the line will need to be inspected by Network Rail to make sure no damage has been caused to the structures.

They added that specialist divers are required as parts of the bridge below the water level need to be inspected but none are available immediately.

Therefore, it is anticipated that the line will reopen on Monday 5 January.
