Firefighters will lead a slow-moving convoy of motorbikes along Cornwall's A30 later, ahead of the funeral of a couple who died following a crash.

Their colleague Paul Parker and his partner Pam Osbourne lost their lives on the A39 near Bude last month.

The pair from Truro will be laid to rest on Friday 27th May, after their motorbike and a van collided.

The both suffered critical injuries and, tragically, died at the scene.

A convoy, headed up by a fire appliance from Tolvaddon, will make its way from the Hayle to Treswithian junctions of the A30 between 11.40am and 12pm, travelling eastbound.

The team say the lights will be flashing to lead Paul and Pam on their final journey and have urged drivers in the area to take care.

Paul Parker, 63, spent the last 16 years keeping the fire brigade's fleet on the road, travelling between stations to carry out maintenance and repair the machines.

His and 69-year-old Pam's families released an emotional tribute at the end of April, saying their deaths had left a big hole in their lives.

Paul's family described him as a proud grandad, saying: "Time spent behind the handlebars of a bike were where he’d spend as much of his free time as possible, nearly always with Pam on the back, seeing sights, trying out as many fish and chip shops up and down the country as well as their big trips across Europe in the summer months.

"You've left a big hole in our lives, and we know you’ll be sorely missed by your friends, colleagues past and present, and fellow bikers.

"We want to thank everyone for their kind words and support at this difficult time. Rest in peace Dad and Pam".

Pam's family said: "“Our mum; so loving, caring, and thoughtful. She thought the world of all her family; she was a great mum, nan and great nan and always tried to make the most of her later years of life with her partner Paul, doing what they both loved - anything to do with bikes".
