SNOW has been falling on the A30 and across Cornwall
Yep... SNOW... in CORNWALL!
Last updated 4th Dec 2020
The first snow of the winter has officially been falling in Cornwall.
Temperatures have dropped across the country and parts of north Cornwall has seen a few snow and sleet showers as a result.
Chris Lee is an emergency medic and says it was coming down between Bodmin and Launceston on the A30 on Thursday night.
He posted on Twitter: "SNOWFALL ON A30 between Launceston and Bodmin.
"Lots of standing water and heavy Sleet & Snow.
"Please drive with caution. Keep speeds down and distances safe."
There have also been reports of flurries in the Callington, Bugle, Foxhole, Nanpean and Roche areas.
There are reports of various crashes across Cornwall as a result of the icy conditions.
On the A30 at Indian Queens, it was partially blocked in both directions and all traffic was being temporarily held.
Inrix Traffic and Travel says there was heavy traffic due to several accidents between the A39 (Indian Queens, Indian Queens) and B3274 (Victoria).
"Police confirm there are multiple unrelated accidents on both sides of the road due to icy conditions, which are in the process of being moved from the road."

The road has now cleared.
There have also been multiple crashes on the A30 around Goss Moor, with police saying people have been driving at 'totally inappropriate speeds'.
The Kernow Weather Team says there could be more flurries across the Duchy on Friday.
"Most parts of the Duchy will be waking up to come very cold temperatures, this could bring the risk of some localised frost and ice, temperatures around -3 to +4c across the Duchy.
"As the morning progress, there is risk of sleet and snow falling just about anywhere across Cornwall due to this weather system. Overall its going to be a mixture of weather, sleet, snow showers, with some heavy showers at times and with some lovely wintery sunshine on offer too. Don't forget that winter coat today."
But there are also some heavy showers around so any snow is not likely to settle for long.
"We will wake to a wet day yet again. This could be in the form of rain, sleet, snow, hail, graupple or a mix of all of it. Expect sudden changes in whatever is falling. Snow could fall anywhere, so let us know if you open your curtains to a magical winter wonderland.
"The wind, low temperature and precipitation is going to cause a few problems for commuters in the morning. Especially high up on the moors and hills with frosty roads and slippery pavements. Please take this into consideration when you go to bed and plan to add a little extra time to your journey. It will be extra ten minutes in the morning to have a coffee, if it's not needed.
"Wrap up well as temperatures have plummeted. The North/Northwest winds 10mph to 40mph, but with fluctuating gusts of up to 55mph are dragging down cold air. This in turn gives us day time temperatures between 1°C and 7°C but with a feel like of 0°C down to - 6°C.
"The afternoon seems a little brighter as the wind changes back to a more Westerly flow. The showers should clear to leave us with a cloudy afternoon and the occasional sunny break. The risk is still there for the odd scattered shower where clouds gather.
"Heading into the evening and overnight the cloud will build back up as the wind drops a little. Again keeping the shower risk, but for some there might be a few gaps in the cloud here or there, which will allow night time temperatures to fall again. Although not quite as cold as the morning was. 2°C to 8°C with a feel like - 3°C to 1°C so you will still want that heating up and on for a little longer."
