Snow and ice in Cornwall causing traffic trouble

Snow in Cornwall is said to be be causing chaos on the roads on Thursday morning according to a traffic monitoring system.

There are reports that there is slow-moving traffic on the A30 eastbound in Bodmin due to snow from A38 Launceston Road (Callywith) to A985 (Kennards House).

Meanwhile, INRIX is also reporting problems in Dobwalls.

The A38 is blocked in both directions which is causing slow traffic after a single-vehicle collision from to B3254 (Liskeard).

The cause is said to be a build up of ice on the road.

Yellow weather warning for ice

Cornwall had been given a yellow weather warning for ice and snow which was originally in place between Wednesday morning through until 6 am on New Year's Eve.

The Met Office had said the east and north of the Duchy were the most likely to be affected by any flurries or icy patches.

However, the alert was updated on Wednesday afternoon and was said to have only stretched as far west as Plymouth. This warning remains in place.

The ice warning was in place for as far west as Plymouth.
