A busy road on the outskirts of Redruth has been closed after a sinkhole opened up.

Inrix Traffic and Travel originally reported that it was located on the B3300 Falmouth Road.

But it has now been confirmed it is on Southgate Street.

The hole has resulted in a water leak and the stretch has been closed off.

Traffic is said to be coping well in the area.

A spokesperson for Inrix Traffic and Travel said: "Southgate Street in both directions closed due to sink hole in the road between A393 Lanner Hill and B3297 Bucketts Hill. Traffic is coping well.

"The sink hole has resulted in a water leak. The road was closed at 14:30."
