Shoppers urged to buy local as late night shopping returns to Truro
Christmas has been described as the 'golden quarter' for footfall for businesses
Late night shopping is returning to Truro.
The weekly event will take place every Wednesday from 29th November up until Christmas.
It will be a chance to see the City Centre Christmas Lights illuminating Truro whilst people shop, eat and drink.
The main streets will be traffic free all day and Boscawen Street will be hosting a selection of Truro Farmers Market produce stalls during the day which will change from produce to seasonal goods from 4pm.
Truro BID will be organising street food & drink, along with festive entertainment dotted around to help everyone get into the Christmas Spirit.
Alun Jones, manager of Truro BID, said: "We're delighted to be celebrating the start of Truro's Wednesday Late Night Shopping evenings. Residents and visitors can enjoy four Wednesday late night shopping evenings with the Christmas lights illuminating Truro whilst they shop, eat and drink.
"Go onto the high street and shop in person"
"This year, we've been working with Truro Farmers Market to help bring a festive buzz to Boscowen Street with traffic-free streets, stalls, street food and entertainment.
"The businesses really need the turnover now, this is the golden quarter, and what they take pre-Christmas will carry on through until Easter when the season starts again. We'd encourage customers to go onto the high street and shop in person."
Many shops will be open until 21.00 and Truro Farmers Market Big Christmas Market hosted by Truro Farmers Market will be on Lemon Quay.
Organised by Truro BID, the Father Christmas Parade will start at 6.30pm from Boscowen Street and will feature Father Christmas in his sleigh, elves, local community dance groups, musicians and circus performers.
Alun Jones added: "Truro has a large number of independent retailers and independent hospitality businesses. Our mandate is to bring additional customers onto the high street and these are really good to promote Truro as a destination shopping and eatery centre."
On all Wednesday Late Night Shopping evenings security staff and our local police will be present and Truro's Park and Ride will be operating a later service, with the last service leaving the city at 9.30pm.
