The Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) is active in Cornwall due to extreme cold weather.

During cooler temperatures we're currently facing, extra provision is put in place to make sure anyone sleeping on the street who isn't already getting support will be provided shelter.

SWEP regularly opens during periods of severe weather, during the winter or summer.

Cornwall Council say during this time, they work with partners to ensure rough sleepers get support to find a route off the streets.

St Petrocs provide drop in support services including in City Road, Truro and Bread Street, Penzance, Health for Homeless provide healthcare services to people without homes in Cornwall and Coastline provide a community hub which is open to anyone and crisis accommodation at Chi Winder on Dudnance Lane, Pool.

A spokesperson from Cornwall Council said: "If you are concerned that someone is rough sleeping in Cornwall during this cold weather, please visit StreetLink."
