Police investigate reports of a serious sexual assault in Saltash

It is understood that a teenage girl was targeted late at night

Police are investigating reports of a serious sexual assault involving a teenage girl in Saltash.

The incident is reported to have taken place near the junction of Broad Walk and Beatrice Avenue at around 11pm on Saturday 17th July.

The victim, a teenage girl, was reported to have been approached by an unknown male who sexually assaulted her.

She was reportedly approached from behind by a male and assaulted in a field adjoining Broad Walk.

She is now being supported by specialist officers.

Anyone who saw what happened or has any information is urged to contact officers.

"Following the incident, the victim was able to make her way safely away from the scene. The matter was later reported to police.

"The man is described as a white male, thought to be aged between 40-55 and of large or overweight build. He is believed to have had facial stubble/hair.

"Offices investigating this incident have carried out a number of enquiries and are appealing to the public for information."
