A driver has suffered potentially life-changing injuries following a crash near Newquay.

Police say a car collided with a wall near Trevornick Holiday Park on Wednesday night.

Holywell Road was closed for more than nine hours while investigators went over the scene.

Anyone who saw what happened at around 10.30pm, or who might have dashcam footage, is being urged to get in touch with officers.

"Police are appealing for information about a serious collision on Holywell Road, near Trevornick Holiday Park, Newquay, at around 10.30pm last night, Wednesday 19th May.

"The incident involved a silver Ford Focus colliding with a wall. The male driver sustained serious, potentially life-changing injuries.

"Local officers and officers from the Alliance Roads Policing Team attended to conduct a forensic investigation of the scene. The road was closed for more than nine hours and police would like to thank the public for their patience.

"Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or was in the area at the time and may have seen the vehicle prior to the incident, or anyone who has relevant dashcam footage."
