All emergency services at scene of 'serious crash' on A30 in Cornwall

The stretch between Carland Cross and Chiverton Cross is closed in both directions

National Highways South West has described a crash on the A30 in Cornwall as serious.

All emergency services were called to the stretch between the Carland Cross and Chiverton Cross roundabouts on Monday evening, with police leading the response.

The road has been closed in both directions and National Highways says it is likely to remain shut through the night.

The latest update states: "The A30 in Cornwall has been closed both ways between the A39 (Carland Cross) and the A390 (Three Burrows) following a serious collision.

"All emergency services are working at the scene with Devon and Cornwall police leading the response.

"Due to the nature of the incident the road is likely to remain closed through the night with no times for reopening at this stage".

Police have confirmed four vehicles were involved and the occupants of one of the cars have died.

The road has since reopened, 19 hours after the crash occurred.

Diversion Routes:

Eastbound traffic is advised:

Leave the A30 eastbound at Chiverton Cross and join the A3075.

Follow the A3075 towards Goonhavern and its junction with the B3285.

At the A3075/B3285 junction , turn right and join the B3285.

Follow the B3285 towards Zelah Hill.

At the B3285/A30 junction , turn left and rejoin the A30 eastbound.

Westbound traffic is advised:

Leave the A30 westbound at Summer court and join the A3058.

Follow the A3058 to Quintrill Downs/A392 junction.

At the A3058/A392 junction , turn left onto the A392.

Follow the A392 until its junction with the A3075.

Turn left onto the A3075 and follow until its junction with the A30 at Chiverton Cross.

At the A3075/A30 roundabout, take the third exit and rejoin the A30 westbound.
