A crash which closed a stretch of the A30 in west Cornwall has been described as serious.

Two cars collided on Saturday, shutting the road between the junctions for Camborne West and Loggans Moor roundabout at Hayle for 10 hours.

Emergency services, including police and paramedics, were scrambled to the Roseworthy Dip area at around 7pm.

Officers have since confirmed a man suffered potentially life-threatening and life-changing injuries and was taken to hospital.

Both carriageways remained closed through the night for investigation and recovery work.

National Highways South West confirmed the road reopened shortly before 7am on Sunday 17th October.

Inrix Traffic and Travel said: "A30 westbound re-opened after earlier accident investigation work from A3047 (Camborne West, Camborne) to B3301 Carwin Rise (Loggans Moor roundabout, Hayle).

"It follows a serious accident involving two cars which happened on the westbound side yesterday evening (Saturday). Reopened at 06:45am".
