Two specialist search and rescue teams, police drones, police dogs and a police helicopter have been involved in the hunt for a missing man from Cornwall.

Christopher Stevens was last seen in the Redruth area on Tuesday afternoon and police have issued an appeal, saying fears are growing for his safety.

The 58-year-old, who has links to the Camborne and Redruth areas, is described as being 5ft 7in tall, with grey sandy hair.

Officers think he may be wearing a black jeans, a black jacket and black shoes.

On Thursday, Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed Christopher is still missing and say they are conducting a 'number of enquiries'.

It follows a day of searches, involving members of both the West and East Cornwall Search & Rescue Teams.

Posting on Facebook, West Cornwall Search and Rescue Team said: "Early Wednesday morning we were requested by Devon & Cornwall Police to assist with the search for a missing male in Redruth.

"Team members searched from 12.00am to 5:30am and then again from 3.00pm until 10.00pm.

"We have been stood down with police investigations continuing.

"Our volunteers were gratefully assisted in the search by East Cornwall Search & Rescue Team from midday, in difficult conditions.

"Also in attendance were the police specialist drones team, police search dogs and NPAS.

"Special thanks to Morrisons for providing much-needed refreshments to team members".

On Wednesday, Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of 58-year-old Christopher Stevens, who has been reported missing from the Redruth area.

"Christopher was last seen in the Redruth area at around 3.40pm on Tuesday 8th February".

On Thursday, the force added: "He is still missing at this time – officers are still conducting a number of enquiries at the moment".
